Top It Off

The above are my jewels, treasures, trinkets, odds and ends I have collected over the years. As per readers' requests I have put together this curated look at my collection as well as my take on accessorizing.

My Top Five Rules for Accessorizing:
1. Accessories don’t always have to complete or compliment the outfit, they can often be the outfit.
2. Play with proportions- mix a statement necklace with multiple delicate necklaces or one large, chunky bangle with a handful of thin ones to create depth.
3. To build a collection that is well rounded, accumulate pieces, don’t simply buy out of need. Also remember that accessories can be more versatile than you think- your favorite brooch may become your favorite necklace or your staple necklace could become your new accent bracelet.
4. Invest in the classics. Even if you are an of-the-moment trend dresser, invest in a few key accessories that can be the base to many looks in your closet.
5. Remember these are my rules…so have fun and create your own fabulous set.

Oh, yay!! What a fabulous post! Your collection is absolutely enviable, so many beautiful pieces! My absolute favorites (that I eye every time you wear!) are the big gold chain and pearl cluster necklace in photo #1, and the crystal cluster necklace in the 3rd photo! And of course, your signature piece in the first photo! A leopard belt has also been on my wishlist for a long time, but I haven't found one in person and haven't gotten around to ordering one online yet! Thanks for sharing, Bee! Such a fun post! xo.

Thanks for posting these tips. I often struggle to find the right accessories for my outfit, even if there isn't one right way to wear them. I will be keeping these suggestions in mind for sure. But I was wondering, can you say a bit more about what you mean for "accumulating pieces" versus buying out of need? Do you mean, don't pass up on a gold statement necklace you like even though what you really need is a silver one?

You have the best accessory collection!
A stylist I know told me once that one thing you never get rid of are accessories. Since then, I am trying to be more selective on what I get because I want to have a collection of pieces that I can use through the years.

Thanks for all your lovely comments- this post was a departure from what I have been doing so I am happy to see all of your responding positively!
As for your questions...

@MB: When I say 'accumulating pieces' I mean if you see that emotional chunky silver necklace or awesome teal bangle but feel you have nothing to wear back to it- buy them anyways. You will find accessories are more timeless and therefore you will hold onto them longer and more times than not you will have wished you bought that piece you didn’t have a need for 6 months ago!

As for a closet tour- maybe in the coming months when I actually organize my closets (yes I have two)!! I know many of you have also been requesting hair tutorials. Truth is I am HORRIBLE with technology, but if I somehow figure out how to not only shoot a decent video but also upload it than I will post one in the coming months also.

PS- Over 400 followers? Could you all be more fabulous? I could not be more flattered…
